چکیده

We re-examine the vertical structure of the post-shock flow in the accretion region of mCVs, and the X-ray emission as a function of height. We then predict X-ray light curves and phase-resolved spectra, taking into account the vertical structure, examine the implications and check whether the predicted heights are compatible

Two-temperature accretion flows in magnetic cataclysmic variables: Structures of post-shock emission regions and X-ray spectroscopy

We use a two-temperature hydrodynamical formulation to determine the temperature and density structures of the post-shock accretion flows in magnetic cataclysmic variables (mCVs) and calculate the corresponding X-ray spectra. The effects of twotemperature flows are significant for systems with a massive white dwarf and a strong white-dwarf magnetic field. Our calculations show that two-temperat...

Continuum and Line emission from Post-shock Flows

The post-shock flow in the accretion region of MCVs is considered to be a magnetically confined cooling flow. The X-ray spectrum from this hot plasma is emitted from a range of temperatures and densities. Extracting information from such spectra obtained with the next generation of X-ray satellites will rely on models for the structure of this flow which include appropriate treatment of the coo...

White Dwarf Masses in Magnetic CVs : Multi - temperatureFits to

One method of obtaining the mass of the white dwarf in magnetic CVs is through their hard X-ray spectra. However, previous mass estimates using this method give lower limits because the temperature of the plasma in the post-shock region (where the hard X-rays are emitted) is lower than the temperature of the shock itself. In AM Her systems, the additional cooling of the post-shock plasma by cyc...

Study of Parameters Affecting Separation Bubble Size in High Speed Flows using k-ω Turbulence Model

Shock waves generated at different parts of vehicle interact with the boundary layer over the surface at high Mach flows. The adverse pressure gradient across strong shock wave causes the flow to separate and peak loads are generated at separation and reattachment points. The size of separation bubble in the shock boundary layer interaction flows depends on various parameters. Reynolds-averaged...

Transonic and Supersonic Overtaking of a Projectile Preceding a Shock Wave

In this paper, two-dimensional and axisymmetric, time dependent transonic and supersonic flows over a projectile overtaking a moving shock wave are considered. The flow is simulated numerically by solving full time averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The equations are linearized by Newton approach. The roe’s flux splitting method, second order central difference scheme for the diffusion terms, an...
